INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Tank Bigsby had the perfect response for his rookie mistake. He scored Sunday’s go-ahead touchdown.Travis Etienne Jr. made sure the Colts paid dearly for their own miscue with his game-sealing run.Together, they helped the Jaguars end their misery at Indianapolis. Bigsby’s 1-yard scoring run with 5:14 left gave the defending AFC South champs the lead and Etienne’s 26-yard TD run following an interception closed out the 31-21 victory that snapped their five-game skid at Lucas Oil Stadium.“I think everybody rallied behind him (Bigsby),” quarterback Trevor Lawrence said. “It was kind of a weird play, but you move on. We kept giving him the ball and that shows the faith we have in him to put the ball in his hands. That was a big touchdown.”It was an emotional day for Bigsby.Officially, he logged seven carries for 13 yards and had no receptions. CINCINNATI (AP) — Minjee Lee lost a five-shot lead on the back nine Sunday and recovered at just the right time, hitting wedge to 2 feet for birdie to beat Charley Hull on the second playoff hole in the Kroger Queen City Championship.Lee, a two-time major champion, won for the first time this year after closing with a 1-under 71. Six holes later, they were tied.Lee led by four on the par-5 12th, with Hull already having hit her second shot into the water. Novak Djokovic wins the US Open for his 24th Grand Slam title by beating Daniil Medvedev

Published Thu, 20 Feb 2025 19:07:05 GMT

NEW YORK (AP) — Novak Djokovic emerged from an exhilarating and exhausting U.S. Open final with a 24th Grand Slam title on Sunday night, using every ounce of his energy and some serve-and-volley guile to get past Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 7-6 (5), 6-3 in a match that was more closely contested than the straight-set score indicated.Djokovic, a 36-year-old from Serbia, moved one major singles title in front of Serena Williams to become the first player to win 24 in the Open era, which began in 1968. Margaret Court also collected a total of 24, but 13 of those came before professionals were admitted to the Slam events. There were moments, particularly in the 1-hour, 44-minute second set that was as much about tenacity as talent, when Djokovic appeared to be faltering. After some of the most grueling points — and there were many — he would lean over with hands on knees or use his racket for support or pause to stretch his legs. This triumph against Medvedev, the opponent who beat him in the 20...
