Bracing for impact: Biden world preps for Hunter Biden fallout

The White House is bracing for the political fallout from the charging decision in the Hunter Biden case. And they’ve concluded that Republicans will attack them over it whether President Joe Biden’s son is criminally indicted or not.In conversations, Democrats and senior West Wing aides are downplaying the potential impact, arguing Hunter Biden was a factor in the 2020 election and voters elected his father anyway. They point out the president’s top rival, Donald Trump, was just indicted himself. But people close to Biden still worry about the personal toll it will take on a father who has already felt anguish about a son’s struggles amid a long history of family tragedy. And they wonder how long he can compartmentalize personal anger with the attacks on Hunter and the political calculation that he’s better off not responding to it. Biden has long agonized over the fate of his surviving son, expressing that worry in phone calls with longtime friends and to Hunter himself.Attorneys fo...Police investigating broken window at Dorchester deli

A crowd gathered at the British Consul General’s Residence in Boston, braving the early wake-up call for a chance to witness history.“It was a bit of an experiment, it’s 5 a.m. here, we weren’t totally sure if people would come,” British Consul General Peter Abbott said, “but they have, they’ve shown up in very large numbers, people are just thrilled to be a part of this here in Boston.”The historic Beacon Hill home was decked out with the Union Jack with the first official portrait of the king and queen consort displayed in the foyer. Dozens of expats and British people are taking the opportunity to watch the coronation happening in their homeland side by side.“Nobody does the pomp and ceremony like the Brits and it feels good to be British and enjoy this moment,” Lucinda Sears, a watch party attendee, said.“Celebrating a new king, a once in a lifetime event,” another attendee Tony Zarola said.Among those snacking on tea and crumpets is a Moderna...Yogi Berra documentary ‘It Ain’t Over’ makes you want to stand up and cheer for this American legend

If you’re a Yankee fan, you will love this.If you’re a Met fan, you will also love this. And if you dislike New York sports teams with every fiber in your body, you will still love the documentary, “It Ain’t Over” about Lawrence Peter “Yogi” (It Ain’t Over ‘til It’s Over) Berra.Sony Pictures Classics releases the doc in the tri-state area and Los Angeles on May 12, but at a recent screening in New York, the doc emits what the country needs.Humor.There are lots of “Wait! This is what Brian Cashman said the other day, in one of the earliest State of the Yankees speech we’ve ever gotten from him, one that actually sounded more like State of the Injured List:“We got a good group of people, player-wise, staff-wise, support-staff wise. It’s a championship-caliber operation.”At which point Yankee fans probably wanted a word, thinking the team’s for-life general manager had to be talking to Hal Steinbrenner, just because he couldn’t possibly have been talking to them. The Yankees lost a game to the Rays on Friday night in St. Petersburg, and found themselves 10 games behind the Rays, at the end of the first week of May. At that point the Yankees’ record was 17-16 and they were still in last place in the AL East. On the same night the Mets won a game they badly needed, 1-0, over the Rockies, ending their night with the same record as the Yankees, with an even bigger payroll. The Mets have been injured, too. They just...CHP seizes millions of dollars in stolen goods, dozens arrested in massive cargo theft bust
