SAN DIEGO (KSWB) - Eight people are dead after two suspected migrant smuggling boats overturned off the coast of San Diego overnight, authorities said.Lifeguards responded to an area near Black's Beach after a Spanish-speaking woman on one of the panga-style boats called 911 around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokeswoman Mónica Muñoz. The woman reported two vessels, one carrying eight people and another carrying approximately 15, had overturned, San Diego Lifeguard Chief James Garland said during a Sunday morning news conference. ‘Teacher of the Year’ re-arrested When lifeguards and Customs and Border Protection officers arrived, they found a total of eight bodies and both capsized boats, SDFD said. Lifeguards also found several lifejackets and fuel barrels but thick fog hampered the search for additional victims. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Tropical cyclone season in our part of the world typically starts in mid-May in the eastern Pacific Ocean and in June in the Atlantic Basin, which also includes the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.It's different for Australia and the South Pacific, where their cyclone season runs from November to April. We really don't hear a great deal about the cyclone season there. That is, until now.Meet Cyclone Freddy. This storm has moved across the southern Indian Ocean since February 4. What's significant about this particular cyclone? It now owns the record for being the longest-living cyclone ever.The previous record holder occurred in the summer of 1994. Hurricane John, also known as Typhoon John, lasted 30 days. It was formed on August 11, 1994. The storm peaked on August 23 when winds reached up to 175 mph. It dissipated on September 13. HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 22-year-old male victim was hospitalized on Saturday after an alleged stabbing at a Hoosick Falls Cumberland Farms. Police say around 7:19 p.m., they responded to the Cumberland Farms at 25 Church Street in Hoosick Falls for a reported stabbing. From there, he was taken via Albany Lifenet to Albany Medical Center. Police did not mention the victim's current condition. The Los Angeles Rams have agreed to a trade that will send off star cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a third-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft and tight end Hunter Long. Details of the trade were announced by NFL Insider Adam Schefter of ESPN.Trading Ramsey will net the Rams the 77th pick in April's 2023 NFL Draft, as well as Long, who was a third-round pick himself in 2021.Ramsey was acquired by Los Angeles in a blockbuster trade in 2019 that saw the Jacksonville Jaguars trade the defensive anchor for a package of picks. FREMONT, Calif. (KRON) -- Flooding from the most recent rain has closed a portion of Interstate 880, according to the California Highway Patrol. Newsom working with federal government after fall of Silicon Valley Bank I-880 just south of Thornton Avenue is closed on both the north and southbound sides.
